Syncretism is the fusion of different beliefs and practices.[1] It is incompatible with Catholicism,[2] because the Catholic Church condemns polytheism, idolatry and other sins against the First Commandment.[3] Still, believers of the Christ Myth believe Jesus Christ is a syncretism of non-Christian myths,[4] Historicians believe the Church is Babylonian,[5] and critics of the Church believe Catholics paganized Christianity.[6] One example is Halloween: Although it is All Hallow's Eve[7] and its traditions are Catholic,[8] it is commonly misconceived that Halloween, its date, and its traditions are non-Christian.[9]
